[ISLMA-Share] Middle School Boy - PG novels, high lexile

Maybe some Gary Paulsen titles - start with *Hatchet* and work through the
series? Not quite as challenging as you want, but certainly PG. I love the
moral dilemmas in the *Indian in the Cupboard* series. Also, some of the
'classics' might work - *Treasure Island (not PG in my opinion, but it's
hard to argue with RLS), Swiss Family Robinson, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz,
*Dickens, HG Wells, etc. Not knowing how you're defining PG, I'm not sure
if Tolkien fits the bill...
