I believe that panthers, cougars, mountain lions and pumas are all different names for the same animal. You may have already found reference to our book about Florida panthers: Felina's New Home: A Florida Panther Story <https://www.arbordalepublishing.com/bookpage.php?id=Felina> .

Subject: [ISLMA-Share] Books about panthers, the animal
A student asked me why we don't have any books about panthers. We have a couple of books that refer to them, but no individual books. When I tried to find some, I was stymied.
Can anyone recommend books about panthers, the animal? I can only find one book about the Florida Panther, but it's not black. There are plenty of books about sports teams called Panthers and the Black Panther Party, but none about the animal.
I've learned that panthers are considered leopards. Here is what Britannica says, "All-black leopards, or black panthers, are most common in eastern Asia."
World Book: Panther is a name used loosely for certain members of the cat family. The leopard, a native of Asia and Africa, is called a panther. The puma of North America, also known as the cougar or mountain lion, is sometimes called a panther. People give it that name particularly in the eastern United States. A few authorities apply the name only to large leopards. Any suggestions? Do you have animal books about panthers?
