I would like to invite you to an upcoming career workshop on March 3 from
9:00 – noon. The workshop is being held at the beautiful Gail Borden
Public Library in Elgin, giving you a chance to tour this award winning
library as well as benefit from the workshop and networking. Author and LIS
career specialist Kim Dority <http://www.dorityassociates.com/about-me/>,
author of *Rethinking Information Work: A Career Guide for Librarians and
Other Information Professionals (2nd edition)*, will present “Rock Your LIS
Career – Strategies and Tips for Taking Charge.” The workshop is sponsored
by the Dominican SOIS Alumni Council, many of whom will be in attendance to
guide our discussions and to network with you.
*How do you establish and build an LIS career that enables you to do your
best work, have an impact with your information skills, and articulate to
current or future employers just what makes you so valuable? Join LIS
career specialist Kim Dority and your fellow SOIS students for this
virtual/real-life, interactive, and highly engaging career workshop as we
explore and then practice the strategies that will enable you to create
your “best-fit” LIS career. You’ll learn how to start building your
professional equity and master ways to continue to grow your value over the
course of a rewarding career, and have an opportunity to practice telling
others what’s so amazing about what you can do in a fun and friendly
environment of fellow students and alumni.*
Five lucky attendees will receive a copy of Kim’s book *Rethinking
Information Work
