Fascinating. When we provide information to the Library of Congress for cataloging, we have to state whether the book is fiction or nonfiction. We go by the guidelines that even if the story is based on actual events (like Cao Chong Weighs an Elephant) but if we can't verify the specific dialog or events actually happened, then we classify it as fiction. So I would classify this title as fiction. Hope that helps, Donna

Hey there,

This book is classified as a 940.54 nonfiction book (see image), BUT on the front cover is says its a "A World War II Tale" and on the inside cover it states "Publishers Note: This is a work of fiction. Names, Characters places and incidents are either the product of the author's imagination or used fictitously and any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, business establishments, events or locales is entirely coincidental."

So....would you keep it in nonfiction or fiction? I am perplexed.
