We have a former student, Mitchell Granger, that has written the book, Jack Stryder and the Lost Library of Alexandria.

He visited our school and talked to our student about the book and his writing process. He was then invited back to speak to our 8th grade graduating class. He is a very motivational speaker and loves talking with students.

He is local, north side of Chicago.

Our APT writes a grant each year to get an author to come visit our school. The few they’ve reached out to for next year (Matthew de la Pena, Jon Scieszka, and Christopher Curtis Paul) either aren’t making school visits next year or haven’t replied. We’re lucky enough to have Jack Gantos visiting us this week.

I’m recommending Jacqueline Woodson to our APT, but her schedule may get filled up quickly for next year.

So – what authors would you recommend to visit and speak to 7th/8th grade students?
