[ISLMA-Share] Makerspace in a junior high

So funny you ask this, as I'm currently working on ordering new items,
based on recent recommendations from this listserv!

I work at a 6-8 junior high. Our students have lunch/study hall during one
period a day and we have 3 lunch/study hall periods a day. This is the
first year I'm implementing a makerspace, so this is what I've done.

We have quarters, so I started with second quarter, any students with
lunch/study hall during 5th period could come and explore our makerspace
every Tue/Thurs. Now we will be starting third quarter, so students with
lunch/study hall 6th period can come to makerspace, same days. Then for
fourth quarter I will open it to students with lunch/study hall during 7th
period. This way, by the end of the year, everyone would've had a chance to
come and checkout makerspace. Since I have a flexible schedule, study hall
is the only "free time" students have, when they are not in a class. I have
them bring their lunch to the LRC and as soon as they finish eating they
have the rest of the period to work.

I don't have it available every day, for every lunch/study hall period
because I'm the one that would have to be supervising students and it would
carve out too much time from meeting/collaborating with teachers and going
into classrooms. Also, I haven't had too many students sign up.

Like I said, this is my first year, so I will definitely evaluate and make
changes for next year. If anyone has any better ideas, I'd love to hear
them.
