Kori, interestingly, we have two retellings of Chinese fables by author Songju Ma Daemicke who lives not far from you in Glenview. If you would like her contact information, I can get that for you.

Here are Digital Review Copies (DRCs) so you can see if they would work. While Cao Chong Weighs an Elephant is actually based on a true story and was just names a NSTA Best STEM book for 2018 and the NSTA/CBC Outstanding Science Trade Book for 2018, I have to say that I think A Case of Sense is a delightful read aloud book with all the noises. And kids of all ages are initially outraged at the injustice of the situation but end up cheering at the judge's ruling. The DRCs are in our multilingual digital format with audio, word highlighting and speed control.

Subject: [ISLMA-Share] Ideas for Asian stories for World Read Aloud Day

Hi all,

February 1st is World Read Aloud day and my 6th graders are celebrating their annual "Asia Day" on that day. Typically I host a storytelling station, but this year, since the date was perfect, I figure I would do a read-aloud instead. I'm looking for great recommendations on picture books of Asian folk and fairy tales, or even picture books that were originally published in an Asian country before being translated into English. Since I'm not storytelling, recommendations for specific books with really fantastic illustrations would be ideal (rather than just the names of traditional tales).

Thanks for the input!

Kori
