[ISLMA-Share] Caudill

[Email list for the Illinois School Library Media Association]

I have a Caudill reward program and of course I promote the list through
regular booktalks, readers' advisory, teacher read-alouds, etc. It used to
bother me that I did not have high numbers of students turning in proof of
their Caudill reading to receive prizes. And then I checked my stats and
found that they are always among the highest circulated books in my
collection every year. So the books are doing their job, but my students
are either not interested in these extrinsic rewards or they find it
difficult to turn things in because I am not in each of my two buildings
every day. I am definitely inspired to try some of the ideas I am seeing
here--regardless of whether I see an increase in prize-claiming--thanks for
sharing :)
