Hello, all,

We are getting to the point in the year in which you'll want to be thinking about Monarch Voting!

Voting will be open February 15 through March 15. You must have been registered for the award. When your registration was received by ISLMA, you were sent a login/password. You'll need this information to vote. If you have lost it, you can retrieve it through the ISLMA Monarch page.

You may submit your school's votes ONE TIME. You will collect your student votes, tally them all up, and enter numbers of votes for each book. Once you have logged in, you may not log in again to make edits.

Here are some tips some libraries have shared for having their K-3 students vote for the Monarch Award:

1. Consider private voting so children are not influenced by their peers.

2. Use the ballot template provided on the website. It is numbered.

3. Use a bulletin board, SmartBoard or other projection with numberred book covers. Non-readers can pick the picture of the book they liked best and mark the corresponding number.

4.Make picture ballots

5. Students put beans, pennies, or tokens in cans that have a copy of the book jacket.

6. Use private voting booths.

7. Remember voters must have read / heard at least five of the books.

Do you have any other tips for those conducting voting?
