[ISLMA-Share] Overdrive

[Email list for the Illinois School Library Media Association]

We use Follett for audiobooks.  I don't have or buy that many.  I mostly get the books that teachers need for classes or that students need to assist with their required reading.  So they are only purchased by request.  I like that there is no commitment.  You just buy one or more when you need them.  They are included in your catalog and can be checked out using your Follett ID.  They are usually available within a day or two.

Overdrive has no hosting or annual fee. Any money you pay them goes to your own purchases. Plus, they have a huge, huge selection. Just sayin

You should look into eRead Illinois, powered by Axis360. We got it this year and it's been great. They have ebooks and audiobooks. Also, it's so inexpensive compared to other services.

I'm looking into purchasing audiobooks for our collection. Do any of you use Overdrive, and if so, are you happy with the selection, price, ease of use? Do any of you use Follett digital audiobooks? What is your experience with them? I looked into Playaways but found the selection to be wanting and do not feel confident in the shelf life.
