I recommend that you work with Debbie Reese and Jean Mendoza at AICL (https://americanindiansinchildrensliterature.blogspot.com/) on all things pertaining to Native American Literature. They are an invaluable resource on culturally authentic works for young readers.

Dear all,

I am looking to update our Native American folktales and concentrate on our area. Does anyone have suggestions or lists for awesome folk tales about tribes in our area? And/or a list of the tribes in our area (Chicago/Midwest). I am hoping to find 8 - 10 books for a specific drama - library collaboration. I also am really hoping to find good resources about the tribes (a set of books or websites), that are historically accurate.
