Alan,

Congratulations on winning your grant! Do you have any students who are already reading manga, a healthy manga section at your local public library or any curriculum connections that would help you make this decision? I recommend you spend some time in the manga section of your local Barnes & Noble reading if you don't have any of the above.

Some of the tamer manga series we have at the high school are:

Full-metal alchemist

Sailor Moon
Fruit Baskets

High School Debut

One Piece

Bakuman

Naruto
Alice in the Country of Hearts
Legend of Zelda

Also popular are, but not so tame:

Bleach
One Punch Man

Attack on Titan

Important tip: If it comes from the publisher wrapped in plastic, send it back unopened. 😊

Hope this helps!

Hey all,

I love this time of the year. It’s the time of the year when all the grants come in. Well, I just won a mini-grant to bring more manga to my middle school’s library. Well, that means I need some help from the collective mind. What has been your new hot manga titles?

I teach in a community that is semi-conservative with body image. Hence, the illustrated sexuality needs to be minimalistic. Yet, I can get away with mild profanity and a touch of violence. So, anyone have some hot new middle appropriate manga title that won’t get me canned that they’d like to recommend?

Thanks,

Alan Holtz, LMC Director for Brooks Middle School
