[AISLE-Share] Barcode scanners

We have 2 Model TT-BSO12 sub scanners that we use in laptops and a Mac mini and have had no issues with interference. It is not the best scanner, it freezes and sometimes just plain does not want to work, but it comes back in a few minutes. You get what you pay for! It is fine for inventory, but I really want to get another “good” one.

We also only have one of the wireless scanners, so I don't know about using more than one. Ours does have an 'inventory mode', which allows you to scan and store the barcode data in the scanner, and download later. Being a creature of habit, I haven't used that feature, so can't advise you how it works.

Our libraries are small and this year we completed inventory by scanning the shelves with the wireless scanners and cranking up the sound on the computer. We would check when we heard a different sound. It is the fastest, and most complete inventory we have conducted in years! We did not use both scanners for inventory at the same time, so that might be a problem, but it would probably work. We were able to check out books at one computer while scanning books for inventory at the other.

Through our ILS vendor, the cordless scanner is on sale for over $600. I can find cordless scanners online starting at $70. Has anyone purchased a barcode scanner recently? Any reviews or advice?
