I'd recommend* Life As We Knew It* by Beth Pfeffer...and of course once you
have them hooked on that one, there are 3 sequels. Premis: The moon is
knocked out of its orbit by a meteor and Earth suffers environmental
consequences. The teen protagonists have to help their families survive the
resulting disintegration of society.

*Empty *by Suzanne Weyn has a good environmental theme: teens are dealing
with a changed world because oil has run out and global warming has lead to
devastating storms that change the planet. But the love triangle seemed
like a distraction...

*Dark Life* by Kat Falls: Set in an apocalyptic future where rising oceans
have swallowed up entire regions and people live packed like sardines on
the dry land left, DARK LIFE is the harrowing tale of underwater pioneers
who have carved out a life for themselves in the harsh deep-sea
environment, farming the seafloor in exchange for the land deed.

*Ashfall *by Mike Mullin: the supervolcano under Yellowstone erupts.

*Monument 14* by Emmy Laybourne: Take your everyday apocalyptic story, put
some high school and middle school students and kindergarteners together on
a bus, hurtle them into a giant supermarket, sprinkle a contamination
epidemic, and you get this apocalyptic thriller.
