I love the 12 Days of Rrading idea!
Not sure if any of this would work for a 1-day event, but our Dec theme
(for a school serving grades 6-12) is "Do-Simething December" that has 4
components:
1. Do-Something Worthwhile,: we collect hats, mittens, socks, personal care
items, & kids' books for the Dream Center in Peoria that aids homeless
families. ("It's EXTRA terrible to he homeless for the holidays."
2. Do-Something Fun: Come to our Free-for-All Friday (during homeroom) for
board games, cards, Legos, Mindstorn Legos, snacks & whatever!
3. Do- Something Creative: hosting a Design-It Day in which we'lll make
Christmas decorations out of old, damaged books (ornaments, trees, snowmen)
4. And then of course Do-Something Realaxxxing! Check out one of our great
books! See the holiday display or some of these exciting new titles (will
include pix of some book covers & links to some book trailers).
Plus we put out some fun Dec bookmarks on neon card stock. Email me if u
want to use the doc.
We're a very small school, but we get a great response to these little
promos.
