Sorry to send this to the whole group but I just saw that you are in Princeton, IL, Amy! My father, Joseph Flaherty, grew up in Tiskilwa, and my cousin, Becky Flaherty, went to Princeton High School and still lives there now. Anyways, small world😊 Couldn’t figure out how to email you separately, sorry everyone else!

Hello,

I take a gallon or two gallon ziplock bag and place the book along with an open box of baking soda. Seal it and check on it after a few days. Sometimes it may take a week to get the odor out.

Advice please! I'm not sure what to do about this.

I have a 7th grade student whose parents must smoke entire tobacco fields at once. EVERY book he uses comes back wreaking of cigarette smoke. Hardcover books are easier to clean or recover with Mylar, but paperbacks are more difficult since I cover the paperbacks with Demco's Vistafoil contact covering. That stuff is near impossible to peel off and replace without damaging the cover. And even if I can clean the cover, the pages still smell no matter what I try.

I know it's not the student's fault, but this is the second year of me trying to save these books. I really consider these books damaged if I can't

Has anyone ever tried to contact a parent about this? What have your experiences been? Please share!

Thank you!
