[AISLE-Share] HS/MS magazine subscriptions and philosophy

I inherited a very large number of subscriptions when I took my job this year. So far I've seen no one touch a magazine this year. Next year they are going to disappear, except the ones that I use.

I pretty much cut our magazines; however, I now subscribe to different comics and they are circulating quite well!

I finally cut my magazine subscriptions completely last year, as they didn't circulate. I now only subscribe to Consumer Reports and Scientific American (both of which get more use by teachers than students).

Very timely question! I have cut my magazine subscriptions nearly in half over the last 10 years or so, and another large percentage have fallen off as publishers cease publication. I have about 20 high-interest titles, but even those magazines are hardly used. The teachers enjoy Rachael Ray and the like for recipes, and I read The Week. Otherwise, not much.

Not sure when I'll get the courage to stop paying for magazines altogether ...

Hi everyone,
Curious to learn about what magazines your middle or high school library subscribes to and the driving philosophy behind your choices. For example, is your focus on high-interest magazines for students to borrow, or for materials to support research and curricular initiatives, or both? Or something else?

Thanks,
Kara
