[AISLE-Share] Fundraisers

[Email list for the Association of Illinois School Library Educators]

Our largest annual fundraiser is a partnership with the local Rotary Club.
Literacy is one of Rotary's goals, so they approached us 10 years ago.
Depending on the year, we keep track of pages or books read to meet a goal
over a three-week period.  Most years, Rotary Club donates $1,000.  Every
three years we are eligible to apply for a district grant that matches the
$1,000.  This is how I fund non-curricular fiction and manga.

Also, approach your local agencies to see if they'd like to sponsor an
upgrade to part of the collection.  Three years ago, our local hospital
foundation donated funds for books about different health care careers.
