How about Sleeping Freshmen Never Lie by Lubar, Schooled by Korman, All
Shook Up by Pearsall, Joey Pigza books, Charlie Joe Jackson series,
Shredderman series, Origami Yoda series, The Last Kids on Earth series, My
Life as a Book by Tashjian?

They might not be any higher but less pictures so you can move them on to
other types of books.
