We use a Google Sheet and a scanner at the front door of the LMC. (We do
have a staff member watching the scanning in, but other drop-in areas of
our school have the same set-up on self service mode). Students scan their
school-issued ID cards, Sheets translates barcode into their ID number.
Plus we have formulas to autofill student names (it's a LOOKUP formula with
all student names entered on a locked tab). You can also code formulas to
enforce blocks.
