I have an early graphic novel section. EGN is the call number. The toon books are there, and I have a set of the lunch lady and Dogman there too. My library is divided between K-3 and 4-5. Only high readers in third grade can access some of the books in the 4-5 area. Not all of the books as some are too mature for them.

I have my Library divided down the middle. K -2 can only stay on one side of the Media center, 3- 5 can go anywhere. The problem with that is the Graphic Novels and Ripley's Believe or Not books are all on the other side. What do you do with the younger students and graphic novels? Although the Lexiles of these books is pretty low, I never had younger students interested in them before.
Thoughts? Do you separate some Graphic Novels -do you leave them for older than 2nd grade? Do you have them in a location where anyone can check them out?
