HAPPY AUGUST EVERYONE!

As the summer winds down, it is a good time to think about the AISLE Fall
Awards. Do you know a member of our association that has done an amazing
program or made an outstanding contribution to a school library in
Illinois, or an administrator that has been supportive of your work and
program? Now is the time to submit your nominations. Please consider
nominating yourself or someone else for the Polestar
<https://www.aisled.org/polestar.htm>, DEMCO
<https://www.aisled.org/demco.htm>, and Administrator of the Year
<https://www.aisled.org/administrator.htm> Awards. Find more information
about the awards at www.aisled.org. The recipient will be honored with
this award at the AISLE Fall Conference.

*The deadline for all award nominations is September 1st at 11:59 PM. *
*Submit applications via email to awards at aisled.org <awards at aisled.org>.*

The Polestar Award <https://www.aisled.org/polestar.htm> is given to honor
members of the Association who have made outstanding contributions to
school library media programs in Illinois.

The DEMCO Award <https://www.aisled.org/demco.htm>is given annually to
recognize a school library media center’s achievement in planning and
implementing an innovative or creative event or service which has made a
measurable positive impact on its users. The award encourages innovation by
asking applicants to highlight the way the library used all of its
resources (which may include staff, administration, faculty, volunteers,
and the community) to make this a successful event or service. This award
is not meant to recognize an overall library program but a specific event
or service that adds to the success of the overall library program. The
event may be a one-time, one-day occurrence, or it may take an extended
time to complete and comes with a $1000.00 award and a plaque.

The Administrator of the Year Award
<https://www.aisled.org/administrator.htm> is given to recognize the
meritorious support of a school library program by a building or district
level school administrator (a person whose position requires the
administrative license such as- but not limited to- a superintendent,
principal, or curriculum director) during the previous school calendar
year.
