[aisle] 9th grade book recommendations

I have a 9th grade/Freshman English teacher who wants to read the first
chapter of a book aloud to the class to encourage her students to read the
rest of the book. She wants a book which will be easy to interlibrary loan
extra copies. Any suggestions?
