[aisle] First chapter activities

I have read entire chapter books to kids and they illustrate the story as I
read. Their illustrations have to reflect a scene or something that is
happening in the story. Each week I collect the illustrations, and when
the book is done, they have to put their illustrations in order and retell
the story as a picture book. This hits on sequencing, recall, and
comprehension.

My kids love doing this and it's so fun to see the different styles of art
and how they interpret the book. If you do this, just make sure they
understand what is expected. Some kids will just sit there and doodle
because they missed the part of my explanation that they need to draw
scenes from the book.
