[aisle] looking for clean YA reads for advanced reader

Hi!

I recently got a request to put together a reading list for a 9 y.o.
reading near a 9th grade level. They like fantasy, but their parents want
to keep their reading away from gore or romantic elements-- so definitely
no *Hunger Games*, *Mortal Instruments,* etc. This second stipulation has
really stymied my ideas-- does anyone have any recommendations?
