Leslie,

Had students who worked in the library since Freshman year. In Destiny I
created an account so they could assist with inventory by sophomore or
junior year.

Other duties where they've assisted:
Shelving
Taking overdue notices to classes
Display ideas (they know their peers best)
Simple tech maintenance (updates)
Vacuuming (a student found it therapeutic)
Book reviews on Destiny
Cleaning & organizing tables and chairs
Setting up AV equipment for faculty meetings
Adding barcode stickers to books
Marking up books I weeded for disposal
Helping classmates with computer programs/issues while I taught...

Student assistants are great assets to library programs - ask them what
talents they want to share to shape their library. Work with them on job
resumes and serve as a reference when they apply for paying jobs.

Enjoy the journey,

Katherine
