Hello Gail.

Your question is not inappropriate.  The AISLE board has drafted a statement in support of our CPS school librarians.  This statement, once receiving final board approval, will be shared with appropriate CPS leadership.  The statement is being reviewed by the board right now, so this should happen very soon.

To quote this year's conference theme, "Together We Can."   It is important that all of our members, and even our non-members, know that AISLE is there for you when you face these types of challenges.  We work hard to support school library programs in our state and we are happy to be of service when and where we can.  If you ever find yourself in a situation where you need assistance, please do not hesitate to contact a member of the leadership team. Our positions, names, and emails are available on the AISLE website.

I had the pleasure of meeting with Kathy Carroll, the President-Elect of AASL, who attended our fall conference last week.  She also indicated that AASL is willing to provide similar advocacy pieces many of which are available from their website.  I believe they are also sending a statement of support for CPS libraries.
