[aisle] Are you an AISLE member?

I think it’s a great idea too… so maybe instead of $65, $50 is a more reasonable price for “library assistants.” Out of curiosity, how would that go about being changed?  A vote by members? By the board?

The rate for personal membership is only $65.00 not 85.00 that is the corporate rate.

In our small town, I do the work of a library director for our district (two schools) plus run the Jr. Sr. Library (grades 6-12) but on an aide's pay.  The work is thoroughly enjoyable, but the district did not want to pay to hire an accredited librarian. I have a degree in English from U. of I. but cannot see the point in furthering my education. The district would no longer want to keep me employed at a teacher's salary plus the need to cover insurance costs.
Across the state schools are cutting funds to libraries. I feel like we're fighting an uphill battle, so I'm happy to keep up the battle in my current situation.  I'd also be happy to join AISLE, but $85 is a bit steep for me at this point.

I understand that we are stronger in numbers.  Have you provided a discounted membership fee for library assistants?  Some assistants do the job we do for a lower pay.  I believe they would benefit, as would we, from a membership to AISLE.  We are all here to serve the students and support the curriculum and teachers.
