Our GACME Club (Graphic, Anime, Comic, and Manga Enthusiasts) is in its
12th year. A few things we've learned/done over the years:

   - Although I maintain the GRA collection in the LMC, the lead adviser is
now one of the math teachers who's REALLY into manga himself. (I'll admit
I was burned out and he's a great fit.)
   - The club meets every Monday after school.
   - Depending on the space needed for the week's activity, the club meets
in his room or the LMC.
   - Every week is different from the last: book talks, games, group reads,
   cosplay, field trips.
   - GACME tries to read one book together per semester, with books coming
   from member purchases or ILL.
   - Field trips: comic book store, Barnes & Noble, movie, presentation of
classic comics in NIU's rare book room, "comics as art" exhibit at NIU.
   - We've only had three different T-shirts since 2007. T-shirts aren't
as important to GACME as other clubs and teams here.
   - I try to spend 1/3-1/2 of the proceeds from our annual Rotary Club
Reading fundraiser on the GRA collection with GACME input.
   - Some of our most popular series in the GRA collection have come from
members' own collections when they graduate as a "legacy" gift to GACME.

Good luck as you build your clubs! A lot of my colleagues laughed at me
when I started the club, but it has outlived Environmental Club, Feminist
Club, and a few others.
