[aisle] Book Help!

It may or may not be prirated. Just because it is posted online, it doesn’t mean it is available for us to use. Something about 2 wrongs don’t make a right. It is up to us to be copyright compliant. The Office of Copyright at the Library of Congress is searchable and you can see who holds a copyright and then you can go from there.

Sincerely,

Alan, Librarian serving Brooks Middle School

It would appear Open Library is part of Internet Archive. Are the materials on Internet Archive illegally obtained as well?

I'd caution against using Open Library. Much like the "National Emergency Library" that unfortunately NPR wrote an article about praising, it is an online collection of pirated materials. Authors and publishers did not give permission for works to be there, nor were they compensated for it.

I have a couple of teachers who usually do class novels and are still wanting to do those novels even though we are in remote learning. I am looking for PDF copies or anything that would still give them the freedom to do the novels and let the kids have the text.

I am looking specifically for "Small Steps: The Year I Got Polio" by Peg Kehret and "The Outsiders" by S. E. Hinton.

Thanks for any help you can give!
