We got a new library several years ago and had to move our books and store
them for a while as the new library got finished and the old library got
reconfigured. We used boxes and they worked really well. I think we put the
Dewey numbers on the boxes. I think custodians would be more successful
boxing books in order than placing them on a cart in order. They will be
able to pack faster with boxes, and books may get put on a cart in the
wrong order. I would recommend reshelving the books yourself to ensure they
are correct and maybe actually label the boxes yourself as they pack, too.
Good luck!
