[aisle] Updated Librarian Job Description for Remote Learning

I know a lot of schools are changing last minute to remote. My school (9-12) has been planning for remote since the beginning of the month and our union has done a fabulous job renegotiating job descriptions with the administration. I thought I’d share what was added to my job for remote learning, in case it can help anyone else. It’s funny because most of the things listed I was doing already.

Librarian Expectations
The duties within the librarian job description will be fulfilled virtually and/or on-site and will include the following activities that are unique to Remote Learning:
• Assist in finding electronic resources for teachers
• Create video tutorials for students and families explaining the layout of the website and how to access information during Remote Learning
• Create video tutorials for students/families around access/use of Teams and Google Classroom
• Assist students and teachers with learning platforms (submitting/attaching an assignment)
• Provide opportunities for literacy connections in the form of student groups (book study M, T, TR, F or library lunch virtually)
• Develop a system for getting books to students
• Work with Public Relations to ensure that the website is updated with the most recent information for families
