We do our own version of the Battle. We are doing it with 5th and 6th grades this year. The teachers make one book an assignment and then they can read the rest on their own after that. But we only give 6-7 weeks to read the books. I can message you with details if you want.

Hello!
I have been asked to offer suggestions on how to "revitalize" a Battle of the Books program in our 4th-5th grade building. For those who organize Battle programs in your schools, how do you maintain momentum and keep students motivated to read the books throughout the year? How do you form teams? What books do you use for the battle titles? Do any of you use the Bluestem list?

Thanks so much for any suggestions. I have a meeting with a principal this week about this topic.
