[aisle] Looking for a mystery book... Can you identify this book?

We have a student that is looking for a specific mystery.

In the story a person wrote a book about a murder. Another person reads the
book and figures out that it is about an actual crime and starts to track
down the evidence. The reader might have been a journalist.

We're not sure if it is a YA or adult book. Does this ring any bells.
