The biggest hits my 2nd grade teachers have read aloud are the Princess in Black series, Clementine series, anything by Kate DiCamillo, the wayside school series (which is about to get a new sequel), the Detective Gordon series by Nilsson Ulf, Ivy & Bean series, and Keena Ford. As soon as the teachers read these in class, I get holds for months on every copy in the series or by the author. I read aloud Lulu and the brontosaurus to kindergarten every year the last week of school and my 1st and 2nd graders actively check out the series sequels.

Elementary Librarians, could you make recommendations for AWESOME 2nd grade interest chapter books to read-a-loud? Or do your 2nd grade teachers have titles they LOVE reading to their class?

Thanks for your help!
