[aisle] Moving Books for New Carpet

If boxes aren't available, library book carts could be used.  Borrow from other schools if you need a large number of carts.  Label bookshelves they were removed from to correspond to the carts the books were relocated to.  Custodians can wheel the carts around to hallways or other classrooms to access the areas they need as needed.  It may be harder to move the boxes around once packed with books.  We did this when we moved our school library to a new building.  When we came back to school, the books were already back on the shelves!  Have a great summer!

Box them in order, and label each box with from - to call numbers. When you're ready to re-shelve, you can tag the shelves, and most volunteers can match the call number on the box to the call number on the shelf!

Don't overpack your boxes. Our custodians in my previous district would not lift any boxes more that weighed more than 25 pounds.

I just got new carpet and didn’t pack anything.  Custodians put my bookshelves on casters and wrapped then moved them to One end of room, then the other!  Done.
