[aisle] Library next year

If we have to travel to classrooms I’m thinking teaching all students how to put books on hold might be the answer, then delivering the items to the classroom. Also using our ebooks and audiobooks with their chromebooks.
This COVId nightmare has caused our district to purchase enough chromebooks to be 1-1 for kindergarten through high school.

I think a lot of us will be dealing with the same thing.
You can have a binder with the students IDs/barcodes so you don't have to scan individual cards. Also, I was planning on having the students request/put holds on books that they want via Destiny, the day before class so I can have them on a cart to bring to the classroom. The only thing that will be hard is having 4 classes in a row - multiple carts set up? I mentioned in a meeting today, that we will have to have some time between classes unlike the schedule we have had where classes are back-to-back. Even if classes come to the library (which they aren't going to for the first part of the year) there needs to be time in between to wipe down tables etc.
Lessons will definitely have to be different - maybe do all of the digital citizenship lessons in the beginning of the year...

I think a shared dialogue of all this will be helpful for all of us :)

Bring a laptop or chromebook with your scanner to classrooms to checkout books. Kids will need their cards to checkout. Maybe take requests from kids before you go or teacher can forward them maybe on a google classroom form? Maybe you can explain online catalog now with them and in January they can visit library. Just keep them reading for now!

Good afternoon. I am concerned about how book checkouts can be done if I am asked to travel from classroom instead of classes coming to the library for class. Part of the learning is... students navigating the shelves, seeing how the library is organized etc. I could load up a cart of books but would the kids be happy with them? Also check them out to the teacher? Our students IDs are their library card. We scan the student ID # then the book. I just don't know, looking for ideas and insight in this crazy time! Thanks!
