[aisle] stress buster/"comfort books"??

Guide to the North American Teenager and his new one. Ben Phillip. Lots of laughs, smiles and good writing.
Older but hilarious are David Lubar’s Sleeping Freshmen Never Lie and Sophomores and Other Oxymorons. They can look back at that time and smile.
Menon’s and Dessen’s books are feel good.
Donnolly’s Stepsister and Poisoned are kick booty.
Pride by Ziboi is a Dominican Romeo and Juliet.
Clap When You Land is just a great story.

After that, pick your favs. If you are enthusiastic, you know they trust you.

I don't have specific titles, but I know that in times of stress my students tend to check out books they've read and enjoyed in the past. It seems to take them back to that place where they felt safer and included.

I would consider books that have short vignettes: Black Enough for example. Pick up, put down. No stress where you start, finish...high interest...someone else models resilience.

I was asked today to consider preparing a 45 (?) minute book talk for our junior/senior high students about books to help them deal with stress. I call them comfort books (think comfort foods)---who do your students (or you) turn to for stress busting?
I have a list of possible resiliency building books, but I'm not sure if that's quite the angle I want to take. Right now I am open to all ideas.

I think I have a week or so to gather thoughts.

Thank you for any suggestions you care to share.
