[aisle] Help! I'm meeting with Superintendent to fight for my library

Jill,

This is where you needed to have volunteers already in place. Over the years, I’ve had numerous helpers in my library. My roster of past volunteer help includes our past superintendent’s son and daughter, 2 board member’s children, and 2 current board members (one as a volunteer and one as a retired teacher). Unfortunately, your discussion won’t be about facts. What you will need is a network to plant the seeds of why we are needed.

Make sure you go to district fundraiser events. Network with the bigwigs. A few years ago, our head maintenance guy was at our now former mayor’s table. The point is know what cards you may need to play and hopefully never play ‘em.

Sincerely,

Alan, Librarian serving Brooks Middle School

Hello to all of you!

I have been told to set up a meeting with our Super to discuss my issues with library funding, staffing and support. Is there anyone who would be willing to advise me on this? I'm in need of advice on strategy and reasons why our school district deserves at least one MLS. Feel free to email or phone me directly.
