[Conference Publicity (North) AISLE]

2020 Virtual AISLE Conference presents Raquelle Brennan, Librarian and
Kiran Subhani, English Teacher, New Trier High School who will present a
research and writing process that engages students with controversial
issues through a critical, but empathetic, lens using photojournalism as a
catalyst for social action. They will discuss the importance of visual
literacy in the age of social media; the ethics of photojournalism;
investigating the story behind photographs and viewpoints they represent;
the use of digital resources for research and note-taking; the writing
process; and modifications to support student achievement and remote
learning.
