[aisle] Illustrators who add detail

I don’t think anyone has mentioned it, but the illustrations in Caldecott Medal winner Officer Buckle & Gloria by Peggy Rathmann (1995!) tells “the” story, without which the print does not make sense!

Best,

For contrast, I always used to use "Always Room for One More" illustrated by Nonny Hogrogian. She conveys movement and atmosphere with 3 colors and line drawings. Interesting choice for Caldecott study.

I'm trying to think of illustrators who add fun details to the story. I'm thinking like Harry Bliss who adds all kinds of hilarious details or like Mark Teague and the LaRue books where the pictures tell a completely different story. Any other suggestions?
