Dear Colleague,

I am writing on behalf of an Exploratory Committee centered around an
exciting project that is already highly successful in English. We would
like to expand it into Spanish language writing for Spanish speaking
readers.

Have you heard of the Soon to Be Famous Illinois Author Project? It is a
project that features a collaboration between a number of library
organizations including ILA, RAILS, Illinois Heartland Library System and
others to discover local and state, self-published writers. For more
information see: Soon to be Famous Illinois Author Project
<https://soontobefamous.info/>.

Here’s how it works: We will ask for electronic submissions of original
Spanish language works in the Fiction genre, Adult or YA, that are
independently published by Illinois residents in ePUB or PDF format. After
one round of judging, we will narrow the list to 12 semi-finalist entries.

Here is where YOU come in: We would like to form a judging committee of no
more than 20 bilingual library staff to narrow the field down from twelve
semi-finalists to three finalists in Round 2. After a third round of
judging, the judges will select a winner.

Would you be interested in participating as a judge? This means committing
to approximately three months (July, August, September) to read up to 3
books in Spanish language during the judging phase and using a rubric scale
to determine the winner. The length of the books will be no more than
100,000 word count or approximately 200 pages.

The committee is working on translating the promotional materials to begin
promoting to area writers and author groups at the start of 2021. It’s very
important that we hear from you by November 16 to know who will be on the
judging committee. We will accept the first 20 respondents. If you want to
be a part of this exciting project, please complete this short response form
