The REALM project has a lot of information on this as well. Some of their research detects the virus after a certain amount of days, lots of studies.

This might help. https://www.libraryjournal.com/?detailStory=imls-research-partnership-to-address-safety-guidelines-for-library-museum-materials I have been keeping up with the REALM Project.

So here’s what I have been doing. I’m at a small school with less than 400 students, so this has been working for me. I set up a patron account named QUARANTINE. I even set it up with its own patron type so it has its own loan periods on Follett (Admin. – Library Policies – Patron Types tab). The loan period is 5 school days, so technically, the item will be in quarantine for a week.

I check the account to see what books are due. Using gloves, of course, I shelve them after checking them in.

for items returned in the bin, we quarantine the bin for 7 days. For items that are inside, that we can stand up, we quarantine for 4 days.

It is my understanding that the RAILS library system said 7 days. I was also instructed through my ROE office that it was a 7 day quarantine.
