When I had Kindergarten, I would choose several books myself and would
display them out on the tables for kids to make a selection. It would make
it easier to choose the books as the students can see the covers. You could
have a theme for the week and read a book to go along with it. It also
limited going to the shelves which makes it easier for you and them. Later
in the year if you feel they are ready, you could have small groups go to
the shelves.

“Books are the ultimate Dumpees: put them down and they’ll wait for you
forever; pay attention to them and they always love you back.”
