[aisle] [*EXTERNAL*] Wise ones of 1:1...desperately need your wisdom

Hello--

I don't know about wisdom, but this works for us. I have a card file
that I write up for each instance of borrowing--I usually can read my
handwriting. It is a good back up and I can write notes when there is
damage or malfunctioning for a device. It is also logged into our SIS
under a discipline referral. This just keeps the admin aware of how many
students are borrowing each day. I don't require any student to sign to
borrow--because, as you said, no way can you read their writing. Each loan
CB has a barcode that I check out to the student. I put a big 4 x 6 index
card taped to the front of the CB. Has student's name on it and their last
hour teacher's name on it. Teachers were all told to look for the big
white card on the cover of any CB and to collect it. That said... they
still go home. If the student doesn't return it, our tech guy will "brick"
it. When turned on, the CB won't go beyond "This computer belongs to Our
School Name. Please return it immediately." A $300 charge is put on their
school account.

Only one person hasn't turned it in eventually.
