It sounds a little like The Last kids on Earth series, but not exactly. He could be mixing up a few different books in his memory. The hideout is a treehouse and they are hunting new monsters all the time, he has a journal where he draws and keeps track of all the new. ones. I’m curious what book he is thinking of.

Here is what he remembers: a boy who was born in a leap year, his 2 best friends are a vampire and a werewolf, journal type pages where they record details of new monsters they discover, black and white illustrations, a hideout in a caboose, and something to do with marbles. Thank you for any help you can provide!!!
