Good Evening,

I’m a graduate assistant at the University of Illinois's Center for
Children’s Books (CCB), and I am writing to inform you of an upcoming event
at the CCB that may be of interest to members of the AISLE Listserv for
professional development or personal interest. On Thursday, January 28, at
3 p.m. CST, Professor Angel Matos will present *Queer Young Adult Novels
that Sadden and Hurt: Adam Silvera’s Oeuvre and the Politics of
Unhappiness.* The talk will be delivered via Zoom, and the link will be
published on the CCB website <https://ccb.ischool.illinois.edu/ss/> the day
before.

Dr. Matos is a Professor of Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies at
Bowdoin College and is a specialist in youth literatures, queer studies,
and screen cultures. His scholarship explores how queer experiences,
histories, and emotions are shaped and narrativized in LGBTQ+ youth
fiction.
