[aisle] Technology recommendations please!

I second Michelle's suggestion. Having the ability for a whole class to
work on any tech - we started on iPads, and now are at ChromeBooks - is a
real boost.

The robotics - Ozobot, Sphero, etc. - are really fun, and there are lessons
available for various themes so you don't have to create them.

Makey makey, Raspberry Pi and other small electronics allow kids to build
their own whatever, but getting enough for a whole class could be pricey.
And then having kids have to take apart their creations so the next class
can use the components? You might find that LED bulbs and foil tape used
with greeting cards or pictures would be a lower cost alternative, and the
kids could keep their creation. You can get free card templates online, or
we had science and art teachers collaborating on a STEAM project...

Greenscreen and video production equipment is great. We've recently
switched from 1970's era equipment to an app on an iPad (touchCast) which
simplifies everything. Kids learn teamwork, attention to detail, and
public presentation.

If the money is to be used in the library, you could invest in ebooks, and
do some classes on using them. Also, audio books are great, along with some
mp3 players to load them to. It's labor intensive for your staff, but
the kids love them and pairing them with print books is a great literacy
boost.

If the money is to be staff oriented, Karen's suggestion of doc cams is
great. Or maybe your staff just needs up to date computers?

Good luck, and have fun!
