[aisle] Have you painted metal library shelves?

About four years ago my husband painted a small metal rolling library cart.
He cleaned it well and did some little sanding on trouble spots but nothing
major. He removed the wheels and sprayed painted light coats. I don't
remember how many coats. We didn't clear coat it but I will if I do it
again. That cart isn't used everyday but it's not just a display either and
it still looks good with light wear showing.
