Good morning,

I got this email (below) via AASL and it got me thinking/wondering. Do any schools in Illinois not charge replacement fines for LOST books? Feedback on that? We have recently done away with overdue fines, but we still charge if a student loses a book or damages it beyond use.

The statement from the Missouri Association of School Librarians reads in part "MASL supports and encourages the elimination of overdue fees, lost book fines, and other fiscal practices that reduce the number of books circulated to Missouri students, thereby decreasing the love of reading among students."
I didn’t log in to see the full statement.

The Missouri Association of School Librarians Executive Council has issued an official statement on what we feel to be best practice for school librarians in our state regarding charging fines or fees to students when they have an overdue or lost book.
"MASL supports and encourages the elimination of overdue fees, lost book fines, and other fiscal practices that reduce the number of books circulated to Missouri students, thereby decreasing the love of reading among students."
See attached for the full statement.
